GLA:D™ stands for Good Life With Arthritis: Denmark, where the program was first developed. Now available in Canada, it’s an evidence-based approach to treatment for people living with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis. The program includes two 90-minute education courses and a six-week targeted neuromuscular exercise plan.

What are the benefits of GLA:D™ Canada?

If you’re struggling with osteoarthritis, GLA:D™ Canada will help reduce your pain, improve your mobility, and better understand your condition. According to GLA:D™ Canada’s website, over 83% of patients find the program beneficial, with over half of patients reporting a clinically meaningful change in their function and quality of life.

Previously, the program has produced positive outcomes for patients up to one year after graduating. In the most recent follow-up report, patients reported:

How do I get started with the program?

To participate in the GLA:D™ Canada, you’ll first need to visit us at Bloor Jane Physiotherapy, where one of our GLA: D™-certified physiotherapists will perform a physical assessment to ensure the program is a good fit for your symptoms.

Once you get the go-ahead, you’ll dive into the program, including your targeted exercise plan. The exercise plan features two 60-minute sessions a week with a warm-up, circuit training exercises designed to improve your symptoms, and a cool-down. Your Bloor Jane Physiotherapy physiotherapist will be with you every step of the way!
